Montevideo Language Exchange Gatherings

Montevideo Language Exchange Gatherings

Postby Doug Heller on Fri Jan 22, 2010 2:26 pm

Hi to all expats and friends living in or near Montevideo. We host the Montevideo Language Exchange, which is a gathering/cultural exchange between new residents and Uruguayans to make new friends and practice English/Spanish with native speakers.

The gatherings take place every other Friday evening from 6:30PM until (at least) midnight at the Bar Atlántico on the Rambla (Rep del Perú) at the corner of Guayaquí in Pocitos. The Bar Atlántico is a family-friendly location with a private Living Room area reserved for our group-as well as a large outdoor terrace overlooking the Rambla and Pocitos Beach. All the usual foods and drinks are served, but you are under no obligation to consume anything.

The Montevideo Language Exchanges are informal gatherings with no agenda. You can drop in anytime after 6:30PM and chat with new and old friends. Bring friends (or not). No reservations are required. The atmosphere is very casual and the group is very multi-generational with a good mix of expats and Uruguayans.

We hope to see you one Friday evening!

The next meetings are scheduled for Jan 22nd and Feb 5th...and every two weeks thereafter.

NEW LOCATION FOR MONTEVIDEO LANGUAGE EXCHANGE bi-monthly GATHERINGS:

We're having informal social meetings on Friday evenings (EVERY TWO WEEKS) in Montevideo. We now meet from 6:30 PM to 11:00PM at the PORTO VANILA Cafe right in front of the main entrance to the Punta Carretas Shopping located AT ELLAURI 351. We have a large dining area plus comfortable corner sofas UPSTAIRS.
No reservations are necessary and there is no agenda. It's just an opportunity for Native Speakers of English and Spanish (and other languages) to meet and chat informally. Even if your Spanish is more a project than a reality, it's still an opportunity to meet Uruguayans (of all ages, but predominantly younger students and professionals) who are trying to learn English. You'll make some new friends and potentially learn a lot...about Spanish and about some of life's opportunities here in Uruguay.

So, come meet and mingle with some new friends! NEXT GATHERING IS JULY 9th (FRIDAY evening) from 6:30PM.
